Grant Park, 2018.
Joy and Ted’s obsession with remodeling projects all started with those dreaded four words … “we’ve got a problem.” They had just closed on a home in the historic Grant Park neighborhood and learned their kitchen foundation was sinking. A few big checks and Pinterest board discussions later Joy and Ted had a vision and plan to remodel their home.
Grant Park, 2020.
Remodeling itself wasn’t hard. It was easy enough finding designers, GCs and subs ready to tackle a job (if not reliably) but the hard part was putting our vision to work and managing the nimbleness and uncertainty that comes with a home renovation. Change IS a certainty. How those professionals managed change was the uncertainty, and that was our challenge. Scope changed. Budget changed. Decisions changed.
Fast forward two years and we had a beautiful, renovated home, albeit a few hiccups along the way.
And that’s where the idea for Woodward & Thomas began. We had a vision to build a design firm that also knew how to work with clients just like us that were open and embraced variability during a project.

So here we are in 2023 and making this vision a reality. We are excited for what holds and ready to tackle projects big and small with the guiding view that change. Does. Happen. Let’s get renovating folks.
